SUMMARY:Galveston Arts Center Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join MHI Staff as we utilize the League City Park & Ride to take a day trip to Galveston Island! Participants will eat lunch at Hubcap Grill\, tour the current exhibit at Galveston Arts Center to view the current exhibit\, “Fall seven times\, get up eight”\, by Houston-area artist Mayuko Ono Gray and ride back to the League City Park n Ride! By participating in this gallery tour\, participants will get to eat out at an island restaurant\, experience local art in an engaging and accessible manner\, and also learn how to navigate and utilize a public transportation resource. \nPlease note: Some walking will be involved to get from Harborside and 20th bus stop to the Galveston Arts Center. The Hubcap Grill is fairly close to the stop and we will eat first\, then go to the exhibit. If a participant needs a personal care attendant to come with them\, please register the care attendant as a participant. The Art exhibit is free\, but participants will need to bring either cash or card to pay for their meal.

SUMMARY:Mobility Management 101
DESCRIPTION:Join MHI transportation team as they provide a broader overview of public transportation options in Galveston County and how to get set up through those providers. Additionally\, trainers will cover how to advocate for one’s transportation needs in: public meetings\, contacting local or state representatives\, and voicing ideas to funders for public transportation. By the end of the meeting\, an Individualized Travel Plan (ITP) will be discussed and completed and participants will leave with a list of different service providers for their specific area and any applications they may need for services like paratransit.
