SUMMARY:Youth Transition Program – Preparing for Life after High School
DESCRIPTION:Young adults from various high schools will engage in a game that will allow them to practice navigating postsecondary options such as:  apprenticeships\, trade schools\, and colleges that could prepare them for future jobs/careers. Consumer will briefly review how their communication passport can be used as a tool for self-advocacy when requesting accommodations in post-secondary spaces. We will also discuss options such as internships and volunteering and how those can also be ways to increase one’s skills and prepare young adults for future work or other goals. By participating in this training\, the consumer will have increased confidence in navigating their choices after they graduate high school.

SUMMARY:Youth Advisory Council
DESCRIPTION:Participant will hear feedback from advocates about the findings on doors for local restaurants\, stores\, and medical facilities and create an action plan for advocating for modifications to any doors that do not meet ADA requirements. By hearing from advocates and creating an action plan as a group\, the consumer will be able to strengthen skills relating to advocacy and teamwork\, while also getting hands-on experience with advocating for change within their local community.
