SUMMARY:Soft Skills to Pay the Bills: Success and Communication
DESCRIPTION:In this installment of Soft Skills to Pay the Bills\, participants will collaborate on two activities dealing with conflict resolution and defining success. Conflict is a natural part of life and we see it play out in relationships\, workplaces\, and our favorite movies/tv shows/books! We’ll start with an activity geared towards discussing a conflict in a recent tv show\, movie\, or book we each have seen recently and review the ways the characters handled the conflict. We’ll then make our own mock PSA (public Service Announcement) with our ideas of how to handle a conflict well in the workplace! Our second activity is one that will allow participants to define success for themselves in a creative way. Participants will get to choose to draw\, act out\, sing \, write about what success will look like for them as they navigate adulthood and work!

Participates will be shown how to advocate on their transportation needs in varies platforms for example\, public meeting that deal with public transportation\, writing letters to local or state representatives\, voicing their ideas to funders over public transportation. Participants will leave with a list of different service providers for their specific area\, if needed an application for para transit provider for their specific area.

DESCRIPTION:Participants will practice their knife skills and using the oven to make Black Bean Dip and Cheesy Tomatoes. They will review the recipes before starting the cooking process\, gather\, clean\, and cut ingredients\, follow recipe steps\, and clean up directions. Participant will get to taste their finished product and take home a copy of the step-by-step recipes (including clean-up directions) if wanted. This will enable the individual to be better equipped for independently using their knife skills\, can opener\, and oven to prepare a snack or side dish.
