Food and nutrition play an important role on the path to goal achievement by helping people feel their best. Changing eating habits can be a challenge\, but with information\, resources\, support and practical tools\, eating well is not only possible but enjoyable. With MHI Facilitator support\, in this session participants take a look at their current eating habits\, how they typically feel during the day\, and how they might make positive changes in their nutrition.

In the training\, participants will learn how to set up public transportation through their primary provider and connect with alternative options. Participates will be shown how to advocate on their transportation needs in varies platforms for example\, public meeting that deal with public transportation\, writing letters to local or state representatives\, voicing their ideas to funders over public transportation. Participants will leave with a list of different service providers for their specific area\, if needed an application for para transit provider for their specific area.

DESCRIPTION:  \n \nParticipants will practice their baking and cooking skills by helping make Pumpkin Pie Bread Pudding with Spicy Maple Syrup. They will review the recipe before starting the baking and cooking processes\, gather and measure ingredients\, follow recipe steps\, and clean up directions. Participant will get to taste their finished product and take home a copy of the step-by-step recipe (including clean-up directions) if wanted. This will enable the individual to be better equipped for independently using the oven and stove top to make a dessert.

DESCRIPTION:Participants will meet MHI staff at the League City Park & Ride to take a day trip to Galveston Island! Participants will explore the Galveston Railroad Museum and enjoy lunch at Old Moon Deli. By participating in this Tuesday Connection event\, participants will get to learn about local history\, eat at an island restaurant\, and learn how to navigate and utilize a public transportation resource. \n  \nNOTE: Some walking will be involved to get from the Harborside and 25th bus stop to The Strand museum and restaurant locations. If a participant needs a personal care attendant to come with them\, please register the care attendant as a participant on our MHI Program Calendar.
