Our first training will focus on becoming disability aware and able to understand your individual strengths, symptoms, and barriers relating to being on the Autism spectrum. We’ll take a dive into common experiences have with being on the spectrum, be able to identify specific symptoms and barriers we each deal with, share our experiences in a peer support format, and begin to implement a group awareness activity for tracking our symptoms and barriers, as well as what prompts them. By participating in this training and practicing awareness skills in between training sessions, participants will have a clearer understanding of their disability, how it affects their day-to-day life, and have the ability to begin disclosing their experiences and needs relating to their disability with others.
